In the eastern area of Veneto there are some real treasures which are still little known. The area is located about 70 km ( about 40 miles) from Venice, its small towns are all of Roman origin. Concordia Sagittaria is located on the intersection of the Roman streets Postumia and Annia and it still has many archeological remains such as the Basilica Apostolorum. Portogruaro, which is located on the banks of the Lemene river, has a series of palaces in Venetian-Gothic style, the City Hall and two ancient water mills and the civic museum "Concordiense".
Another village is Cinto Caomaggiore, known for its lakes, and the villa Bornancin, which was built in 1827 and is surrounded by a park that is older than the villa. At the villa, wine tastings or lunches for up to 50 people, with local specialties, can be arranged upon request.
Not far from Cinto Caomaggiore is the eighth century Benedictine Abbey, located at Sesto al Reghena (in the Friuli Region).
